Introduction
Software premium content module (SPCM) for Intel® Viiv™ technology using
Windows* Media Digital Rights Managements an Intel Viiv plug-in module that
receives protected commercial entertainment content and outputs it to the
home network protected by DTCP-IP. The content may be received by an Intel
Viiv verified Digital Media Adapter (DMA) where it is decrypted and rendered
for the consumer’s enjoyment. Within the SPCM, the content may be transcoded
to a format suitable for rendering by the DMA and it may also incorporate
Intel® Smart Streaming Technology. There may be several SPCMs on
an Intel Viiv computer, each one being specific to a content application and
possibly processing content from a different type of source, e.g., DRM, DVD
player, etc.
The
SPCM released with Intel Viiv version1.5.1 works with content protected by
Microsoft’s (WM-DRM) software. It can make content protected on the Intel
Viiv computer by WM-DRM available to Intel Viiv verified DMAs. It does not
transcode, so DMAs receiving content from it must support Windows Media
formats.
This
version of the SPCM which will process commercial entertainment content, is
fully featured, and includes a production DTCP key which operates at
Microsoft’s Security Level 2000. It may be released to end users as part of a
commercial product.
